The All-New Templates Add-on is Here! 🥳

The all-new Templates add-on for WP RSS Aggregator is now available! It brings to the table a brand new customisable grid templates that will engage more site visitors and spruce up your site.

Many of you brought to our attention the need for more customizable ways of displaying imported items, be it articles, videos, or something else. Scroll down to see what we came up with!

All the feed displays you see below are live examples of the Templates add-on at work. They show both the Grid and Excerpts & Thumbnails template types being used to display articles and videos in various ways.

Have a look at the new Templates…

The feed displays below are all using the Templates add-on right now.

No feed items found.

What you see above is our brand new Grid template type. Customisable and sleek.

You can choose what to display, in what order, and much more, all with a few clicks and a drag-and-drop interface. This is only the start of what’s to come with Templates.

Looking to add a Youtube video gallery to your website? No need to install some other plugin. We’ve got you covered!

We not only recreated the legacy Excerpts & Thumbnails template to retain the existing method of displaying imported items (from the discontinued Excerpts & Thumbnails add-on), but also improved the way it’s done with new customisation options.

    No feed items found.

We can’t wait to see what you’ll create with these new templates! There’s been a lot of interest in this add-on for a while now and the whole team is proud of what we have built here. There’s plenty of room for this add-on to improve and grow further, so if you have any ideas or suggestions, we’re here to listen.

You may suggest new template ideas through the form on the Templates page too – all feedback is welcome 😊

Templates will replace the old Excerpts & Thumbnails add-on which has been discontinued as of last week. Existing users of the old add-on can read on below to see how to upgrade for free.

  1. Ok, I’m shifting to templates, from excerpts and thumbnails. So far it isn’t going very well. I have a site that has a custom right-hand area of the RSS feeds using filters. Where is the documentation about programming level for templates?

    Or should I just read the code? About to revert.

  2. Oh great.
    1. the conversion didn’t work on the real site.
    2. it won’t reactivate the Excerpts and Thumbnails.

    Tearing the code apart to find out where the bug is.

  3. Wew! Wipes sweat off face.

    They came back after I deactivated and activated the Template plugin again.

    No real idea why? Maybe a database update? There are quite a lot of RSS feeds in the various sidebars.

  4. Shifted to using the next short-codes…
    was

    [tab title="Feeds"]

    <?php
    echo apply_filters("the_content","[ wp_rss_aggregator links_before='' links_after='' link_before='' link_after='' category='active' limit='75' ]");
    ?>

    [/tab]

    Now

    [tab title="Feeds"]

    [ wp_rss_aggregator category='active' limit='75' ]

    [/tab]

    1. Hi Lynn, are things working well now? For future reference, it’s best to contact us with this information through our contact form so that the support team can help out where necessary.

      The conversion process has performed well for us and other users – did it just need a reactivation on your site? Before that, was the Templates page itself working but not showing the new template?

  5. Hi, Since I installed the add on, I have a problem with the images that go into the media library. Is it planned to fix this soon?

      1. It’s simple, every image from an RSS feed is stored in my media library. You already had the problem with the old plugin “Excerpts & Thumbnails” in the past

        1. Hi Bernard, I realised this may be a very old thread, but I am now facing the same issue as you were then. Did your issue get resolved? Thank you.
