This add-on is part of the Simple Feeds Bundle. Make your investment worthwhile by purchasing the full bundle, giving you more features while saving at least 21%!

This add-on gives you the ability to display thumbnail images and excerpts along with the feed item titles that you get with the free core plugin. It’s perfect for injecting some life and colour into your feed item display.

Displaying the feed items with the excerpts and thumbnails is still done through the use of the WP RSS Aggregator shortcodes. There are a number of excerpt and thumbnail settings available, along with the shortcode parameters for individual display options.

What do I get?

Shortcode Framework

WP RSS Aggregator’s comprehensive shortcode framework is powerful but easy to master, giving you maximum flexibility in terms of what appears where, how and when.

Add excerpts to each title in the shortcode

Through the available options you will be able to enable or disable excerpts for all sources. You can then set an excerpt word limit, choose the characters to appear at the end of each excerpt (ex: … ), and enable and customize a “Read more” link at the end of each excerpt to link to the original source.

Add thumbnail images to each title in the shortcode

Adding some colour to the shortcode display can only help your site look better. Through the available options you can set the thumbnail image height and width to use, set a default thumbnail to be used when no image is found in the RSS feed, link the thumbnail image to the feed item permalink, choose what to do when the feed item has no image, and even choose the image to use (from the RSS feed source) as the thumbnail image.

What can I build?

Below are just a few use-cases for the complete Simple Feed Bundle:

Technical Details

Requirements

  • WP RSS Aggregator Core Plugin
  • WordPress 4.0 or higher
  • PHP 5.3.9 or higher
  • The core plugin requires WP Cron to work in order to function correctly. If this is not possible for any reason, WP RSS Aggregator cannot ensure that the feed source imports are run.
  • WP RSS Aggregator also uses SimplePie, and hence its requirements must also be fulfilled. WordPress currently comes bundled with SimplePie version 1.3.1. To review its minimum system requirements please click here.
  • All our plugins work only on self-hosted versions of WordPress (WordPress.org) and are not compatible with the hosted version of WordPress (WordPress.com).

Other details:

  • All price options are billed yearly, automatically. License keys provide you with updates and support for one (1) year. If you have a valid subscription, the license keys are renewed automatically every year. If not, the license key must be renewed manually to keep benefitting from any updates and support, and for Full Text RSS Feeds to continue working.
  • “Single Site”, “Up to Five Sites” and “Up to Twenty Sites” refer to the number of WordPress sites you can activate each license key on. They do not refer to the number of feed sources you can import from. In fact, the number of feed sources per site is unlimited.
  • All add-ons and bundles are covered by our 30 Day 100% Money Back GuaranteeView full terms & conditions.

Docs & FAQs

Visit our documentation.

Q: Can I import additional content or images from the original source that are not in the provided RSS feed?

A: No, Excerpts & Thumbnails can only use the content and images provided within the RSS feed. To import additional content from the original source, please look at our Feed to Post add-on (which does not use the shortcode to display feed items).

Q: Does the Excerpts & Thumbnails add-on solve missing image issues when using Feed to Post?

A: No. The two add-ons work differently and are not made to be used together for the same source.

Q: Can I use the Full Text RSS Feeds add-on to bring in more content with Excerpts & Thumbnails?

A: No, Full Text RSS Feeds does not work with the Excerpts & Thumbnails add-on, so it can not be used to import additional content to what is provided by the RSS feed when using this add-on.

Q: I need a license for more than 20 sites, can you help me out?

A: We sure can! Although we only show “up to twenty sites” on our website, we have larger license packages available upon request and at much bigger discounts. The currently available packages are of 50, 100, 200, 500, 1000 and 2000 site licenses. Contact us today for more information.
