Displaying YouTube videos on a WordPress site is simple with WP RSS Aggregator. Here's what you need to get started:
- WP RSS Aggregator core plugin installed and activated on your site.
- WP RSS Aggregator Templates add-on installed and activated on your site.
The YouTube Channel or User URL (or more than one) that you want to display videos from.
Once you have those, follow the steps below.
Set up the Source
Go to RSS Aggregator > Feed Sources and click on the Add New button up top.
Name the source and then enter the YouTube Channel URL in the URL field.
In the Images settings, set the Featured image to Enclosure image. This will enable you to display the thumbnail of a video in the template. We'll see why further down.
Publish the feed source and go back to the Feed Sources page.
Confirm that there are imported items for this new source.
And voila! That's your YouTube source setup. Now let's set up the template.
Set up the Template and Use It
Go to RSS Aggregator > Feed Sources and click on the Add New button up top.
Name the template and select the Grid template type. Now you have a few options…
NOTE: Displaying the title and information fields is optional. The excerpt does not currently grab the YouTube video description since it is not included in the RSS feeds provided by YouTube.
