When using the Feed to Post feature in Aggregator, you can import items as default WordPress posts or any custom post type available on your site. Once imported, these posts can be displayed using your theme’s built-in features or with the help of block and page builder plugins.

Using Your Theme

If you import items as default WordPress posts, you have the choice of either having them immediately be visible in the Blog section of your website upon import, or not. You can set this from Aggregator > Settings > General > Feed to Post. The option is called Add approved posts to the default WordPress Blog page.

Choose whether to add imported posts to your WordPress blog page or not.

If you choose to add posts to your default WordPress blog, your WordPress theme will automatically handle the display of posts using the blog archive template or any custom archive template that you’ve set up.

To manage how these posts appear on your site:

  • Go to Settings > Reading to change the default posts page or the number of posts displayed per page in your blog.
  • Use your theme or page builder’s options to adjust the styling, layout, and additional display elements like the author name, date, or categories.

If you have imported feed items as a custom post type, the display will depend on your theme’s archive template for that post type. Many themes offer built-in support for custom post types, while others may require custom coding.

Note: Aggregator does not handle the display of any post-type archives. This is managed by your theme’s settings or template hierarchy. To learn more about how to display custom post types, refer to the WordPress Codex or theme-specific documentation.

Using Block or Page Builders

For users who prefer visual customization without coding, block and page builder plugins can be used to style imported posts. Popular builders like Bricks, Elementor, Beaver Builder, and so on allow you to create custom layouts and designs for your posts or custom post types, offering flexibility beyond what your theme may provide.

Using Aggregator Displays

In addition to your theme or page builder, the Displays feature in Aggregator offers built-in options to display imported posts in different layouts, such as grids, lists, or with thumbnails and excerpts. This is a great way to quickly style your imported content without needing to modify your theme or use a page builder plugin.
