Searching Imported Content

Note: These documents refer to features and updates in the upcoming v5 release, which will be available soon. Some information may not apply to earlier versions. Stay tuned for the official launch announcement!

Who can use this feature?

Users on

IN THIS ARTICLE
On Plus, Pro, or Elite plans, any content you import as Posts (or other custom post types) is instantly searchable through WordPress’s built-in search or any search plugin that supports posts/custom post types - no extra setup required.
Contents

When on the Plus, Pro, or Elite plan and importing items as Posts (or another custom post type), all imported content is automatically discoverable through:

  • WordPress’s built-in search
  • Any search plugin that supports posts or custom post types

This means you do not need to purchase or install a special search plugin just to make imported content searchable. WordPress already indexes posts and custom post types by default, so your visitors can find imported articles using your site’s existing search bar or search tools.

For example, if you import news from multiple external sites into your WordPress site as standard posts:

  1. Visitors can search for keywords, titles, or content from those imported posts directly through your site’s search.
  2. If you prefer advanced search capabilities (such as filtering by category, AJAX live search, relevance ranking), you can install a compatible search plugin. These plugins will index Aggregator’s imported posts automatically if they support custom post types.

Key Points

  • Aggregator does not include its own standalone search feature.
  • Imported posts are fully integrated into WordPress’s content system.
  • Any plugin that searches posts or custom post types will work with Aggregator imports.
