Fixing the Plugin Version Mismatch Notice

If you’re seeing this notice in your WordPress dashboard:

This means there is a version mismatch between the WP RSS Aggregator plugin and the WP RSS Aggregator – Premium plugin.

When this happens, the listed premium modules are paused until the required plugin update is installed. Premium features that are not listed in the notice continue working as expected.

In the example above, the paused module is pro.aggregatorai. This module includes Aggregator’s AI features: AI Summaries, AI TL;DRs, and AI Rewriting.

These features start working again after the required plugin update is installed.

Why This Happens

WP RSS Aggregator (free) and WP RSS Aggregator – Premium are designed to work together.

Some premium modules depend on features or changes in a specific version of the free Aggregator plugin. If the required version is not installed, Aggregator pauses the affected premium module to prevent errors or unexpected behavior.

Update Both Plugins to the Same Version

1. Log in to your WordPress admin.
2. Go to Plugins > Installed Plugins.
3. Look for:
   • WP RSS Aggregator
   • WP RSS Aggregator – Premium
4. See which plugin has an Update now link.
   • Update that plugin.
   • If both need updates, update Aggregator (Free) first, then Aggregator Premium.

Once both are updated to the same version, Premium features will re-enable automatically.

If the Premium Update Doesn’t Show Up

When a new version is released, WordPress sometimes only shows the update for the Free plugin right away. The Premium update may appear a little later.

To refresh:

• Go to Dashboard > Updates and click Check again.
• If it still doesn’t show up, wait a few minutes and check again.

Manual Update

If WordPress doesn’t show the Update now link, you can update manually.

Aggregator (Free)

1. Download the latest version from the WordPress Plugin Directory.
2. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
3. Upload the ZIP file and click Install Now > Replace current with uploaded.

Aggregator Premium

1. Log in to your Aggregator account.
2. Go to the Downloads page and download the latest Premium plugin.
3. In WordPress, go to Plugins > Add New > Upload Plugin.
4. Upload the ZIP file and click Install Now > Replace current with uploaded.

Once both plugins are on the same version, Premium features will work again as expected.

If you are using Aggregator 5.2.0 or earlier

If you are using Aggregator 5.2.0 or earlier, the notice looks different from the current version.

The Plugin Version Mismatch notice appears in the WordPress dashboard:

A similar notice appears inside Aggregator:

In these versions, the notice says that Premium features are temporarily paused.

The fix is the same: update both WP RSS Aggregator and WP RSS Aggregator – Premium to the same version.

Once the required updates are installed, the affected premium features should start working again.
