AI Summaries allow you to automatically generate concise paragraph-style summaries for imported posts in Aggregator.
Instead of asking readers to scan the full imported article right away, AI Summaries give them a quick overview of the main points. This can make your imported content easier to browse, especially when working with long articles, curated news feeds, or research-based content.
When enabled for a source, Aggregator generates a summary during import and adds it to the imported post as a separate summary block. The original imported content remains unchanged.
Key Benefits
AI Summaries can help improve how imported content is presented on your site.
- Quick content overview: Give readers a short summary before they read the full imported post.
- Better readability: Make long or detailed imported articles easier to scan.
- Consistent formatting: Add summaries in a consistent format across posts from different sources.
- Improved content curation: Help visitors quickly understand why an imported article may be useful or relevant.
- Automated workflow: Generate summaries automatically during import instead of writing them manually.
Use Cases
AI Summaries are useful for sites that import and publish external content regularly.
Common use cases include:
- News curation: Add short summaries to imported news articles so visitors can quickly understand each story.
- Research feeds: Summarize long or technical articles into a more digestible overview.
- Industry updates: Help readers scan updates from multiple sources more efficiently.
- Content hubs: Improve the browsing experience by adding summaries to curated posts.
- Editorial review: Generate summaries that can be reviewed and adjusted before publishing, depending on your workflow.
How It Works
AI Summaries are configured per source.
When AI Summaries are enabled for a source, Aggregator generates a summary for each new imported post from that source. The summary is based on the imported post content and is added to the post as a separate summary block.
AI Summaries do not replace the original imported content. They are added alongside the content based on the display option you choose when setting up the feature.
Display Options
The summary can be shown before or after the imported post content, depending on how you want it to appear.
AI Credits
AI Summaries are powered by AI Credits.
Each successfully generated summary uses AI Credits. If you generate a preview while setting up AI Summaries, that will also use AI Credits.
For more details, see AI Credit Usage and Limits.
Where AI Summaries Can Be Used
AI Summaries currently work with sources that import feed items as WordPress posts or custom post types.
Note: AI Summaries are currently not supported when:
– The source stores imported content as Feed Items.
– Curation is enabled for the source.
Version Requirements
AI Summaries require Aggregator 5.1.0 or later.
- If you are using Aggregator 5.0.x, update to the latest version to use AI Summaries.
- If you are still using Aggregator v4, you must first update to the latest version and complete the migration process before AI Summaries become available.
In Conclusion
AI Summaries are a useful way to make imported posts easier to understand and more helpful to readers. They can improve the presentation of curated content, reduce the need for manual summary writing, and give visitors a clearer reason to engage with each imported post.
