The Block

Note: These documents refer to features and updates in the upcoming v5 release, which will be available soon. Some information may not apply to earlier versions. Stay tuned for the official launch announcement!

If you have recently migrated from Aggregator v4 to v5, you can no longer select sources or customize displays directly within the Aggregator block. Your existing block settings have been migrated, and all current blocks will continue to function normally. To take advantage of the latest features, we recommend duplicating the empty display in Aggregator > Displays, assigning the required sources, and replacing the old block on your page or post with the updated one.

Aggregator offers its own block called RSS Aggregator Display, which can be used on any page or post throughout your WordPress site. Here’s how to add and configure it.

Adding the Block

To insert the block:

  1. Open the block selector by typing a slash / on a new line.
  2. Start typing RSS Aggregator.
  3. Select the RSS Aggregator Display block from the dropdown and add it to your page or post.

Once added, the block options will appear in the right-hand sidebar. If you do not see the sidebar:

  • Click within the block itself, or
  • Click the sidebar (cogwheel) icon at the top right of your screen to open it.

Selecting a Display

When using the block, you are embedding an Aggregator Display. As explained here, displays are a combination of sources, layouts, and design customizations which you can manage directly within Aggregator’s settings.

As such, the main action you have to take after adding a block to your page or post is to select a Display, as shown below.

Block Customization Options

The Aggregator block also offers an alignment setting as shown below. Using this option, you can set how to align the block display in the content area and whether it should be full width on your page or post.

Advanced

In this section of the sidebar, you are able to apply a custom CSS class (or more than one) to just this block. This is a great way for developers familiar with CSS to add custom styling changes just for this single block.
