Automations allow you to apply specific rules that automatically filter imported items, ensuring only relevant content gets imported into your site. You can set up these automations both globally (applied to all sources) or per source.
These automations consist of “If-Then” conditions, giving you flexibility in filtering items based on different criteria such as title, content, tags, and more. You can learn more about how automations work as well as the difference between global automations and source automations through our documentation.
Troubleshooting Import Issues with Automations
If a source fails to import some or all of its items and you can’t figure out why, it’s worth checking for any automation rules that might be filtering out content you actually want. Here’s how to troubleshoot:
- Check Global Automations:
- Ensure that the global automation rules in
Aggregator>Settings>Global Automationsdon’t include any over-restrictive conditions that block important items from being imported.
- Ensure that the global automation rules in
- Check Source Automations:
- Verify whether individual sources have their own automation rules that might conflict with global settings or block certain items from being imported.
- Review Keywords:
- Make sure the keywords you’ve set for automations are not too common or broad, which could unintentionally filter out relevant content. For example, applying an automation rule to filter out content with the keyword “and” could prevent most of your items from being imported since it’s a common conjunction.
Automations in Aggregator offer powerful tools for curating and managing your imported content, allowing you to filter items efficiently using a combination of global and source-specific rules.
Proper setup of these filtering rules can help you keep your content focused and relevant, but it’s essential to avoid over-filtering by carefully selecting only the appropriate keywords and conditions.
