A guide to help you diagnose and resolve API issues with WordAi, ensuring smooth and effective content spinning integration with Aggregator.
Contents

Aggregator’s WordAi integration allows you to automatically rewrite or “spin” imported content, making it unique and engaging for your audience. However, if you’re experiencing issues with the WordAi API not working as expected, this guide outlines steps to identify and resolve certain problems with the integration.

Common Dymptoms of API Issues

Here are some typical indicators that there may be issues with the WordAi API connection:

  • Content not spinning: Imported items appear on your site exactly as they do from the source, without any changes.
  • Error messages: Messages like “API connection failed” or “Invalid API key” may appear, indicating an issue with authentication or connectivity.
  • Lack of response from WordAi: The plugin may show that it’s attempting to spin content, but no changes are applied.

If you’re encountering any of these problems, use the steps below to troubleshoot and address the issue.

Verify Your API Key and Account

The first step is to make sure your API key for WordAi is valid and entered correctly:

  1. Check your WordAi account: Log into your WordAi account to ensure that your API subscription is active. Confirm that you have sufficient usage credits, as limited credits can prevent content from being spun.
  2. Verify the API key in Aggregator: In Aggregator > Settings > WordAi, check that the API key you entered exactly matches the one provided by WordAi. A minor typo can disrupt the API connection.
  3. Test the API key externally: If possible, test your API key using WordAi’s API documentation or a tool like Postman to verify that it functions outside of Aggregator.

Review API Settings and Limits

WordAi’s API may have usage limits, such as the number of requests allowed per day. Review the following:

  1. Check API usage limits: Review your WordAi account for any restrictions on the number of API calls you can make per day. If limits are reached, spinning may pause until your limit resets.
  2. Implement request delays: WordAi may require a delay between API requests to avoid rate-limiting. Adjust the import frequency settings in Aggregator using the Update Strategy options to manage the frequency of imports and avoid triggering rate limits.

Test the API Connection

If your API key is correct, the next step is to ensure WP RSS Aggregator can connect with WordAi:

  1. Confirm server permissions: Some hosting providers block outgoing API requests. Contact your hosting provider to confirm that requests to WordAi’s API endpoint are allowed.
  2. Disable security plugins temporarily: Occasionally, security plugins may block outgoing API calls. Try temporarily disabling security plugins to see if the integration works without interference.
  3. Test connectivity: If possible, use a testing tool like Postman or curl to ping the WordAi API endpoint and confirm it’s reachable from your server.

Update or Reauthorize API Access

If previous steps haven’t resolved the issue, you may need to refresh or reset your API access with WordAi:

  1. Generate a new API key: Log into your WordAi account, create a new API key, and enter this new key in Aggregator > Settings > WordAi.
  2. Clear cache: Clear any cache in WordPress or on your server, as outdated cache may prevent the API changes from taking effect.
  3. Update the plugin: Ensure that you’re using the latest version of Aggregator’s free and premium versions. Sometimes, plugin updates address API compatibility or connectivity issues.

Check for Plugin Conflicts

Sometimes, conflicts with other plugins can interfer with the API’s functionality. To identify any conflicting plugins, please follow our conflict testing guide.
